Life changing, in short. I've been through quite a journey with Dr. Castillo and his colleagues. From hormones to pelvic floor reconstruction to skin treatments (and more), I have run the gamut. Dr. Castillo is one of the most informed and always curious doctors I have ever met. He is absolutely doing what he was meant to do. He is kind, thoughtful, engaged and very proactive. He's never in a rush and has supported my health overall, not just in what his focus is. He has changed my life in ways I never thought possible. Remy is such a fountain of knowledge. She is present and takes all the time you need to explain not just hormones, but how all of the lab results are connected and why it's a whole solution, not just individual things to address. She is absolutely a hormone nerd and is passionate about what she does. Dr. Doo is incredibly kind and always engaged and helpful. She listens well and always has tangible ways to improve things. She is super personable and easy going. I've only seen her a couple of times, but I really like her. Carlos! A total gem. Absolutely a skin expert, he is deeply knowledgeable and really invested in helping people improve their skin. I had him do a couple of treatments and the difference is absolutely amazing. I know I see it, but when other people see it, you know it's a profound difference. The office overall has a clear top down quality. Dr. Castillo hires people like him, passionate about what they are doing and invested in improving the quality of life for people. The offices (I've been to both a number of times) are clean and inviting, all of the staff is helpful and responsive. The experience of going there is a big part of it, it's inviting and comfortable and very welcoming.

If you have been diagnosed with prolapse and told that immediate surgery is your only option, I strongly encourage you to seek a second opinion from Dr. Castillo. While several physicians in the Bay Area recommended surgery right away, Dr. Castillo took a more thoughtful and conservative approach. He started me on a regimen of vaginal hormones and laser treatment instead. Six years later, I am thrilled to report that I have been able to avoid surgery - an option that comes with a low success rate. I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Castillo by a pelvic floor therapist who originally had been recommended by another urogynecologist. She told me that if surgery ever became necessary, Dr. Castillo would be the best person in the Bay Area to perform it, and strongly advised me to consult with him. As a Yale Law School graduate and a highly proactive medical advocate, I am meticulous about choosing my healthcare providers. I am confident that my search for the best urogynelogist is over, and I am deeply grateful to be under Dr. Castillo’s care.

I first visited Dr. Castillo in February 2023. I went in for a cosmetic procedure called the Diva laser. During my exam for this procedure, Dr. Castillo determined I was a candidate for this laser treatment but he also discovered that I had a hernia and other gynecological issues that could only be addressed with surgery. This was a bit of a shock! I regularly visit my gynecologist but I have never had such an in-depth exam before. I told my husband about this and him being a surgeon as well, he was a little skeptical. So, I booked a follow up consultation and brought him with me. Once my husband met and listened to Dr. Castillo, he was convinced that this surgery was necessary and that Dr. Castillo was the doctor to do the surgery. Because the surgery required a several week recovery, I put it on hold for about a year, so I could plan my life around it. In the meantime, I did have 3 Diva laser treatments and the results from those treatments were fantastic! I highly recommend the Diva for vaginal dryness. The more I got to know Dr. Castillo and his staff, I decided I would like to start going to his practice for my hormone replacement therapy as well. I had been getting pellets for hormone replacement for a couple years now with another doctor, but I really wanted to have one doctor who knew me well and understood the big picture regarding my hormonal and sexual health. It was clear from my first pellet treatment with Dr. Castillo at just how incredibly knowledgeable he is in this area. If you have been struggling with peri-menopause or menopausal symptoms and are a candidate for hormone replacement therapy, I can’t stress enough at what a game-changer this is. HRT has transformed the way I feel in my 50’s! I feel like I am in my 20’s in regards to energy, sleep and libido. So worth the investment! Finally, I did have the surgery with Dr. Castillo this past February. I was pretty scared about the procedure, the recovery and how it would affect intimacy. The recovery was so much easier than expected! I was pleasantly surprised. And after a couple months recovery, I am very pleased with the results and even my husband gives the results 5 stars 😂 I have recommended at least 20 women to Dr. Castillo, many of whom are now happy patients of his.
