I am extremely disappointed with Parkside Compound Pharmacy and feel obligated to warn anyone who relies on critical or time-sensitive medication. We placed an urgent order and paid an extra $20 for same-day delivery, something they promised would happen. The medication never arrived. When we called the next day to check the status, we were suddenly told it had been “shipped,” even though we were originally promised direct delivery. This wasn’t just inconvenient, this jeopardized our health. When you depend on medication, delays are dangerous. What made the situation worse is that they shipped the medication to an address we never authorized. We gave them the correct delivery address, NOT the billing address on our card. Their mistake caused even more delays for something that was urgent and medically necessary. When we asked if we could pick up a new batch to avoid waiting even longer, we were told the medication “wasn’t available.” But just minutes later, suddenly they did have it and could “fill it as soon as possible.” The inconsistency, disorganization, and back-and-forth stories were extremely concerning. There is no need to lie. All we wanted was honesty and accountability especially for something directly tied to our health. Instead, we dealt with miscommunication, false promises, and zero responsibility taken for their errors. If you have chronic or critical health needs, I strongly advise staying away from this pharmacy. Their lack of organization and transparency can jeopardize your wellbeing, and no patient should have to experience that.
I am a huge fan of Parkside and have been for years, which proves they are not only good, they are consistently good!! I go there to get my prescriptions filled for my entire family, plus this is my go-to for purchasing gifts. When you walk-in, most of the time you are greeted by Fritz, the security guard, who is always smiling and ready to make your day. Every person who works there greets you when you walk-in and leave (now THAT is the customer service that is hard to find these days). In the pharmacy, the staff is great and they get to know you by name. They are great to work with! The only negative thing I will mention is that they will often not have the full stock of medications available, so they have to order them and you have to come back. However, I know there are regulations and it might be because of that. Otherwise, it’s fantastic and we would rather go there than a hospital or retail chain. And their boutique is first class. Their buyer is fantastic and finds the most interesting, beautiful and fun items! I could browse for hours and shop for family, friends, or myself. Parkside is a gift to the Land Park community!
I absolutely adore Parkside Pharmacy! My cat Percy needs a compounded medication that literally keeps him alive, and we were so stressed when we first had to start getting it. We chose Parkside because they were local, and they have never once disappointed us. They always prepare Percy’s medication so quickly—even when I call it in early—and everyone there is incredibly kind. They even ask how he’s doing sometimes, which means more than they know. This whole situation has been scary and such a huge adjustment over the last few years, but having a pharmacy I can trust completely has brought us so much peace. Thank you all for taking such good care of Percy. 💛🐾
Update: John says he doesn't care that scripts were delayed because he closed for the holiday. Update: Apparently being rude is okay if they see fit. As to whether it is legal, all other pharmacies do it legally, so he's incorrect. Owner John Ortego doesn't listen to you and talks over you, refusing to even acknowledge you. Rude to a customer who has gone there for years. I guess he only cares about people who want compounding so he can get the ridiculous upcharge. Everything in the store is overpriced. Local convenience is not worth it. So much for supporting a small owner run business. I notice they only respond to positive reviews. I guess they don't feel it is necessary to try to retain customers.
Okay, here's a real review. My wife is on medications and certain ones. She has to have. If you have a prescription plan that includes medicare r x plan, they do not accept that they will not fill the prescriptions. They will try to give you off brands and generics.Even though when the doctor says you gotta have this one, this is the only one that you can have. A violation of code of ethics, when a doctor prescribes a medication, and it is covered by medicare, has to be afforded and to be covered after my discussion with medicare, we'll see if they still have that option.Available to them.
