I had problems getting thought this afternoon. I was hold for 7 something minutes. Then it went to ringing about 20 times, then I was disconnected. Then I called back. I started to explain my problem to the compounding department, and they put me on hold before I could finish. I had called earlier this morning asking if a certain drug could be put into a syrup or oral suspension, and the male employee whose first name begins with a W said no. I said that a pharmacist at UTSW l said that someone a Dougherty's could do this. W said no. So later today I pulled up the email from the UTSW pharmacist and here it is, with the drug named edited out due to my privacy rights as a patient. Here it is in part: 2. "Could consider compounded XXXX oral solution from a compounding pharmacy. I called Dougherty's Pharmacy and they can compound a 2.5 mg/mL suspension, but their recipe uses the XXXX tablets crushed into an oral syrup, so technically the inactive ingredients would still be in the compounded product. I was thinking that she might perceive the liquid to be "less harsh" on her stomach. Unfortunately compounding pharmacies don't usually bill insurance, so a 30 day supply of the suspension would be ~$90." So why would this UTSW pharmacist get a different answer than I got? I am actually on the phone in real time with your pharmacy as I am writing this. The pharmacist said that W does not work in that department very often and apologized. She checked with the lab. They CAN order the medication to be put in an oral syrup. The pharmacist, first initial A, was very customer service oriented and helpful. I have always had GOOD service at Dougherty's until today. But I was on hold a good part of the time until she came on the line. By the time we finished, it was 29 minutes for that call. I am on the fence about using Dougherty's and I will be calling around, but you do need to know about this situation, hence, this message. I am giving you 2 stars because pharmacist A was so helpful, but without her, this would be a one star review. If I had only interacted with her and had not waited on the phone for so long, plus had not been misinformed by W, it would be a 5 star review. Pharmacist A is a keeper.
Their phlibotomist is a national treasure! I have moved all my perscriptions over to them because of their outstanding customer service and their employees not only are very knowledgeable, but they are also kind. It's a model other pharmacies should employ. It's sadly a very unique and wonderful place that we are very fortunate to have in Dallas.
A great place to visit and I'm glad that although it's no longer family owned, is still an important destination for RXs, sweets, durable home goods and ice cream. Four stars instead of 5 only due to higher prices that caused this shopper to not fulfill my total shopping list.
I was on hold for 10 minutes, while the individual told me they were going to check on if they could fill a script from my vet. After 10 minutes of waiting I hung up to try again. The phone answered, with no greeting, and I was left listening to music for 10 minutes until, again, I hung up to try again. Third time? They answered and immediately hung up. This is their service?
Dougherty's is one of the few businesses who still offers GREAT Customer Service! Nice staff will take the time to help you. A+
